You see one year ago I was unemployed and going to Carl Sandburg College (for a AS Degree) when I applied to the BNSF Railway. The position was in La Crosse, WI in the signal department. I got the interview and low and behold I was offered a potion. With a few hoops to jump through. So I started to go through the check list and got all the way to the strength test. Which I did not pass by 0.1%. I will not lie I was very disappointed and mad at everything.
That is when I applied to a different job in La Crosse, WI. It was with a civil engineering firm called Davy Engineering. Two weeks went by and no response from them. I was asked to come up and help my sister and brother-in-law out after Tim had surgery. The day I was to drive up I got a call from Mark Davy to come in for an interview. To say the least I was excited, as this was a job I went to college for.
The interview went well and I spent another week in Wisconsin helping out my family. I then drove home and got ready for Christmas and then I was off to Snowblast with the youth group. It was at Snowblast that I got a call from Mark and he offered me a job with Davy. I accept the position and we started to figure out what had to happen next.
I started to working In Wisconsin at the end of January and Michelle stayed home with the dogs and continued to work in Galesburg, IL. I would drive back and forth on the weekends to work on the house so we could sell it. This was a very stressful time, as Michelle and I did not really get to spend much time together. Facebook Skype calls was a lifesaver. During the week I was stayed with my sister and her family until we found a home in La Crosse area. I enjoyed being able to spend time with my nephew and nieces. Getting to know them better and also getting to reconnect with my sister.
In March we put our home in Henderson, IL up for sale and waited on God to show us the way. In May Michelle found a job with Nose Jammer (it is a hunting product) and in June we had bought a home in La Crosse. The house in Henderson then was sold in July and we made the move. The great thing about all this is the move was a very smooth. God is so good to us.
The hard part about the move is not being able to see my mom and dad and all our friends much. I did rediscover a old hobby I really enjoyed back in the day. It is tabletop war-gaming. I play Warhammer and Warhammer 40K and enjoy assembling and painting the miniatures. One of my new co-workers is the one who sparked my interests. I hope to post some pictures soon on my progress.
This fall Michelle and I came to the conclusion that it was time to adopt a child. So we have been meeting with people to find out the options and what we have to do. It is a very interesting process and I'm going to use this blog to also keep track of what happens with it.
Well that is it for now. I hope to post something later on this week. So check back.
